ABC News projects that President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump will win the Washington primaries, based on an analysis of the vote.

       Every voter was mailed a vote-by-mail ballot, but in-person voting centers were open in the state until 8 p.m. Pacific Time.

       Early voting in the Washington presidential primary began on Feb. 23. All registered voters were mailed vote-by-mail ballots that they could return by mail or to ballot boxes by 8 p.m. Pacific Time on the day of the election.

       State significance The Washington Republican primary will award 43 delegates to candidates proportionally, although if a candidate gets more than 50% of the vote, they get all of the delegates.

       There are 92 delegates available on the Democratic side, also awarded proportionally.

       Washington was the state that clinched the Republican presidential nomination for former President Donald Trump based on ABC News' projection.

       Washington was one of the earliest adopters of mail-in voting -- which is universal there. The state has not been won by a Republican presidential candidate in the general election since President Ronald Reagan in 1984.
