Left-wing firebrand George Galloway has been sworn into parliament amid fears the pro-Palestinian agitator will fuel simmering tension over Gaza.
The hardline socialist has returned to Westminster as MP for Rochdale following a stunning by-election victory.
He had claimed that former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn would be one of the two MPs who traditionally escort new members into the Commons.
Instead, Mr Galloway was accompanied by Alba Party MP Neale Hanvey and Conservative MP Sir Peter Bottomley, the Father of the House.
The Workers Party of Britain MP pledged allegiance to the King as part of the swearing-in ceremony all MPs are required to undertake.

While being sworn in Mr Galloway exchanged a nod with Levelling Up Minister Michael Gove, who was waiting to take questions.
It was a rare occasion when he appeared in public without a hat, as it is against Commons rules.

Arriving in the Commons this afternoon he said: "I swear by almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles, his heirs and successors, according to law. So help me God."
Mr Galloway shook hands and had a brief chat with Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle before exiting the chamber.
Earlier the hardline socialist took a swipe at politicians on his return to Westminster.

He arrived at Parliament in chauffeur-driven Volvo to be greeted by a crowd of photographers and camera crews, telling them: “I always loved the building - the people in it, not quite so much.”
Mirroring that view, Conservative minister Bim Afolami told ITV's Good Morning Britain: "We're going to have to endure him and that is really the fault of the Labour party."
It comes amid fears for MPs safety after extreme elements within the Gaza ceasefire protest movement target individual politicians in Westminster and at their homes and constituency offices.
The Workers Party said Mr Galloway planned to make his first speech since returning at Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday.
In an interview conducted just after his election win on Thursday last week, he suggested teaming up with Mr Corbyn - who sits as an independent after being kicked out of Labour over anti-Semitism - to form a new party.
Both former Labour MPs, they were vocal in their opposition to the Iraq war and are now among the most prominent critics of Israel's actions concerning the war in Gaza.
Mr Galloway won a clear victory in last Thursday's by-election, which had seen Labour withdraw support for candidate Azhar Ali over remarks widely alleged to be antisemitic.
Mainstream parties were beaten into third place after a chaotic campaign, sparked by the death of Labour MP Sir Tony Lloyd, with independent and local businessman Dave Tully taking second place.
Mr Galloway has previously been an MP for Labour until 2003, when he was expelled from the party. He then sat in the Commons as an independent and Respect Party MP for three constituencies between 2003 and 2015.
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said Mr Galloway only won in Rochdale because Labour withdrew support from its own candidate about a fortnight before polling day.
Sir Keir apologised to voters for the decision, which forced Labour to effectively withdraw from the race due to electoral law, the but said it was "the right decision".
Mr Galloway, 69, has long campaigned for causes in the Middle East and the first words of his victory speech in Rochdale were "Keir Starmer: This is for Gaza".
