RM3.5mil burglary: Cops to take statements from victim's relatives

       KUALA LUMPUR: Police will record statements from family members of the businesswoman whose house in Padang Balang, Sentul, was broken into resulting in about RM3.5mil in losses.

       Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said police already recorded the victim's statement on Monday (March 4).

       "It is part of the investigation," he told a press conference after attending a back-to-school aid programme at city police headquarters here on Tuesday (March 5).

       With the investigation still in the early stages, Comm Allaudeen said the police needed time to probe the incident thoroughly.

       It was reported that robbers broke into the woman's home and carted away cash, gold bars and designer handbags worth about RM3.5mil.

       Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah had said the incident occurred between 10pm and midnight on Sunday (March 3) when the businesswoman and her family were not at home.

       "The robbers stole a safe filled with gold bars and cash. They also stole several designer handbags," he said.

       According to Supt Ashari, the CCTV at the victim's home was damaged.
