PETALING JAYA: Muda will not participate in Perikatan Nasional's nationwide roadshow.

       Reiterating its stand to function as an independent third force, Muda said its decision was final.

       "We would like to issue a firm reminder to all parties not to overstep the party's decision-making authority by issuing statements, which will only be made through the party's official channel," it said in a statement on Friday (March 15).

       It said it will continue its role of providing checks and balances in Malaysian politics.

       Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had said on Saturday (March 9) that Perikatan will hold a nationwide "Jelajah PN" tour after the fasting month to learn about the woes and concerns of the people.

       It was also reported that Muda co-founder and former president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was expected to join the tour as an "ally to the coalition".

       It was reported on Thursday (March 14) that Muda acting president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz and Syed Saddiq were surprised to hear of his participation.

       Muda secretary-general Amir Hariri Abdul Hadi said no discussion had been held, nor any decision made, regarding participation in the roadshow.
