Thousands took to the streets in the heart of Coolock, Ireland, in vehement opposition to the government's decision to house 500 asylum seekers in a former paint warehouse.

       The Department of Integration attempted to assuage fears, highlighting plans for "full engagement" with the public and community leaders. However, the assurances fell short for the demonstrators, who remained steadfast in their opposition.

       Throughout the week, protestors maintained a visible presence outside the warehouse, culminating in a dramatic display on Wednesday night when horseback demonstrators brought traffic to a standstill.

       Last night, their numbers swelled, with eyewitnesses estimating up to 2,000 people participating in the protest.

       "The government cannot ignore our voices any longer," said one protester, encapsulating the determination of the community to resist what they perceive as an unjust decision.
