KOTA KINABALU: Internet users have been warned against making provocative comments, especially on matters relating to royalty, religion and race (3R).
Sabah Assistant Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Fairuz Renddan said action would be taken against those found purposely jeopardising the peace in Sabah.
"We are not stopping anyone from using social media. You are free to post anything, but never touch on 3R as it can cause tension. Be a responsible social media user.
"If you're not caught, consider yourself lucky. But luck will run out and when that happens, you will have to pay the price for your crime. You will be forever blamed and labelled as the person who disturbed the peace," the Parti Gagasan Sabah youth chief said in a statement on Saturday (April 6).
Fairuz called on the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to monitor social media platforms and take immediate action against those who cause racial and religious tension, as well as those who mock Malaysian royalty.
"We need to stop such acts before it gets worse. They are like viruses that can easily penetrate people's minds. I have even read some comments that could divide East and West Malaysians," he said.
