KUALA LUMPUR: Five policemen and a former policeman have been arrested for allegedly robbing a foreigner of a luxury watch and cash worth over a quarter of a million ringgit.

City police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said police received a report from the victim who claimed several police personnel members had robbed him of his watch and cash.

"The victim did not suffer any injuries in the incident.

"Following the report, a team from Wangsa Maju CID arrested three men at around 11.50pm on Sunday (April 7).

"We then launched a follow-up operation and arrested four other suspects who were believed to be directly involved in the case," he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 9).

He said based on investigations, five of the suspects arrested were police personnel while one of the suspects is a former policeman.

"The remaining suspect is a public servant. The suspects are aged between 28 and 41 and have been remanded to help with further investigations.

"We have opened investigations for gang robbery and impersonating a policeman," he said.

Comm Rusdi stressed that anyone who broke the law would face the consequences, even his own personnel.

He also urged the public to refrain from speculating on the case as this could hinder the investigation and cause anxiety.
