       IN the era of globalisation, online job searches and transactions for the individual and business community have become part of our daily lives.

       Technological developments have helped in many ways and for most part, have made our lives easier.

       However, with the good comes the bad, and its evil and sinister side is manifested in many ways through money and job scams, among other threats.

       So was an individual cheated of more than RM200,000 in a job scam?

       Verdict:

       TRUE

       The Segamat district police in a statement on Thursday (April 11) said a syndicate would send messages identifying themselves as employment agents telling potential victims to download an application called 'ACSSHOP'.

       Police said from January to March, the victim deposited a total of RM228,494 through 20 transactions into various accounts but did not receive the money or commission promised.
