Netanyahu 'urged by ministers to hit sensitive facilities' in Iran 'as soon as possible'

Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly been urged by ministers in his own government to "attack sensitive facilities in Iran as soon as possible" in retaliation to the recent strikes on Israel.

Michael Shemesh, political correspondent at the Israel Broadcasting Corporation, wrote on Telegram: "Government ministers recommended that Netanyahu attack sensitive facilities in Iran in response to the Iranian attack on Israel.

"The dispute in the Israeli leadership over the timing of the response is still ongoing. Most decision-makers believe the action should be carried out as soon as possible."

He added in his Telegram post: "A senior government official said tonight: 'Every day that passes, the chances of a significant retaliatory attack on Iran are decreasing.'"

This comes after Tehran fired over 300 missiles and drones at Israel on Saturday night, almost all of which were intercepted by Israel's complex air defense systems.

Saturday's attack, an operation labeled "True Promise," was in response to the April 1 strike in Damascus, Syria that killed seven members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including two generals. Israel has neither confirmed nor denied its role in the attack.

Now, video appears to show Iran rushing air defense systems to the capital of Tehran after Israel vowed revenge for the drone and missile attacks at the weekend.

Cellphone footage shared online purportedly shows a convoy of vehicles transporting missiles, as Iran prepares for a response from the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

Saudi news outlet Al Hadath tweeted footage which it said showed Iran transferring S300, S200 and Bavar-373 defense systems to the capital.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden is urging Netanyahu to show restraint as the US seeks to stamp down fears of a wider regional conflict amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza that has left nearly 34,000 Palestinians dead, according to health authorities in the region.

A senior White House told Axios that Biden said to Netanyahu: "You got a win. Take the win," referring to Israel's sucessful strike on Damascus.

The US and UK were among the countries helping Israel to take down Iran's drones and missiles.
