PETALING JAYA: The statements of three people, including Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegubard, will be recorded by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) over their social media posts.

The MCMC said that Badrul Hisham and Mohamad Salim Iskandar will have their statements recorded at its headquarters in Cyberjaya today.

Meanwhile, Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris (Papagomo) will have his statement recorded by the MCMC at the Setapak police station.

“Their statements will be recorded following complaints regarding content that had been uploaded on social media that has allegedly gone against Act 588 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

“The public is advised to not abuse communication services and online applications to spread unverified and fake content,” it said in a statement yesterday.

Separately, both Badrul Hisham and Mohamad Salim were in Bukit Aman to show their support for former Batu Berendam MP Datuk Mohd Tamrin Abdul Ghafar who had been summoned by the police for investigations into a blog post.

Badrul Hisham claimed that a group of people approached him and Mohamad Salim to sign a document that said they agreed to go to MCMC and hand over their gadgets.

“If we do not attend, then a warrant will be issued by a magistrate.

“This is no longer intimidation but an abuse of power. We will be there at around 3pm,” he said.

He added that they had previously been told to present themselves on Monday (April 15) but had asked for a postponement.
