PETALING JAYA: The bodyguard who took a bullet for his boss, a travel agency owner, at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has regained consciousness.

       Muhammmad Nur Hadith, nicknamed Along, underwent intestinal surgery on April 16 following the April 14 shooting at Terminal 1.

       His wife Siti Noraida Hassan, when contacted yesterday, confirmed that Along had regained consciousness.

       “Yes, he has woken up; he was taken off the ventilator.

       “He can speak a little,” Siti Noraida Hassan said.

       She added that no timeframe has been given on when he can be discharged.

       “It could take some time,” she said.

       In the early morning of April 14, the airport was rocked after a man attempted to kill his wife at the arrival hall of Terminal 1.

       Farah Md Isa, better known as Farah Cie, was waiting for her clients’ return from umrah at the time.

       Her husband, who police identified as 38-year-old Hafizul Harawi, allegedly threw a firecracker towards her direction, leading to injuries of two passers-by.

       The suspect opened fire at her at close range.

       Along, her bodyguard, saved her life but was shot in the abdomen in the process.

       The suspect escaped to his car that was parked at Block C of the airport car park.

       Along was then rushed to the Cyberjaya hospital after the shooting.

       After a nationwide manhunt, the police arrested the suspect in Kota Baru, Kelantan, at 3pm on April 15.

       Hafizul was remanded for seven days and brought to Selangor to facilitate investigations into the attempted murder.
