IPOH: Sixteen individuals faced anxious moments when an express bus they were travelling in caught fire at KM242.3 of the North-South Expressway northbound.

       Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Senior Fire Officer II Mohd Fawwaz Abdul Jamil said personnel and machinery from the Kuala Kangsar and Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Stations were deployed to the location after they received a call at 12.01am yesterday.

       “About 80% of the express bus was burned.

       “The 16 passengers, including the driver, are safe and were transferred to another bus after the fire brigade arrived at the scene,” he said in a statement on the department’s Facebook page, Bernama reported.

       He said the fire was brought under control at 12.51am and was completely extinguished at 1.34am.
