A boy has been arrested after a South Wales school was put on lockdown with children "shut in classrooms".
Police rushed to Ebbw Fawr school, in Ebbw Vale at 10.20am this morning after a pupil received threatening messages.
A message sent by the school to parents and carers has been posted on social media, stating the school "is in a partial lockdown situation". They added that "police have arrived" with "all students safe in classrooms".
Police confimed the boy arrested was not apprehended on school grounds.
A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "We received a call to report that Ebbw Fawr Learning Community had been placed in partial lockdown at around 10.20am after a teenage pupil had allegedly received threatening messages.
"Our officers are in attendance. We have arrested a teenage boy on suspicion of making threats.
"The arrest did not take place on school premises and was not in the Ebbw Vale area. Our enquiries are ongoing."
The school is split in two, with the secondary building located on Lime Avenue, while the primary centre is on Strand Annealing. Both have been shut.
