Huge row in beautiful UK town as 'ugly' holiday homes ruin the view

Holiday lodges that have been dubbed as 'unsightly' have sparked an outcry among the residents of a Conwy village. The villagers are arguing that their views have been 'destroyed'.

Peter Davidson, who is behind the application, has petitioned to the planning department of Conwy County Council, with the intention to alter the use of land at Tyn Terfyn Caravan Site situated on Llanrwst Road in Tal-y-Bont, so as to house 15 holiday lodges made from timber.

Despite the fact that three of these lodges have already been built and another five are currently under construction on the eastern side of the site, council officers have signalled to the committee that they are inclined to provide approval.

Yet some local people and the community council have voiced their disapproval by writing letters expressing opposition to the development. "The proximity of the holiday lodges to my property is unacceptable," stated one of the objectors, Kimberly Heginbotham.

She further claimed, "I live in a single storey property and can easily see the holiday lodges that have already been built from my front windows. They are ugly and out of character and ruin my view across the Conwy Valley.", reports Wales Online.

She also voiced fears about potential noise disruption due to the close proximity of the lodges and an increase in traffic. Diane and Barry Williams also penned a letter to the council outlining their objections to the plans, citing concerns about the size of the units, parking, and drainage, according to North Wales Live.

Cllr Goronwy Edwards expressed his worries about drainage in a letter to the planning department, stating that the expansion of the operation could transform the touring park into a 'residential dwelling development'. He also raised concerns that the proposed development would reduce the recreational space available to current residents.

The planning application is set to be debated by councillors at a planning committee meeting at Conwy's Bodlondeb HQ on Wednesday, May 8.
