Australia will halt live sheep exports by sea

       KUWAIT CITY, May 14: Senator Murray Watt, the Australian Minister of Agriculture, announced the Australian government’s decision to halt live sheep exports by sea starting from May 1, 2028, reports Al-Qabas daily. In response to this decision, the Australian Embassy in Kuwait issued a statement affirming Australia’s commitment to regulating live sheep exports until the complete cessation date.The embassy emphasized that existing animal welfare standards for exporting livestock would continue to be upheld during this period.

       Highlighting the enduring partnership between Australia and Kuwait in the Gulf region, the embassy underscored the significance of their collaboration in ensuring food security. This partnership extends beyond livestock trade to encompass grains, chilled meat, vegetables, and various other products. Moreover, the embassy emphasized the robust relations between the two countries in investment, education, science, and research domains. Australia expressed its keenness to explore new avenues for trade and cooperation, with a focus on supporting Kuwait’s objectives in food security.
