Urgent warning as notorious gangster known as 'Viking stomper' on the run for 10 days

A manhunt continues for an infamous gangster known as "big Viking Stomper" after he absconded from a Kirklevington Grange prison in North Yorkshire 10 days ago.

Daniel Gee gained notoriety after allegedly flooding Liverpool’s Grizedale estate with drugs.

Gee was jailed 14 years ago after an investigation found that he had conspired to purchase weapons and had threatened to kill a teenager.

Former boxer turned podcaster Billy Moore recalled meeting Gee when he was 20 years old. Moore has faced his own battles with crime and drug addiction and said on his The All or Nothing Podcast with Billy Moore that Gee was a "strong kid" back then. "He would come in off the streets and would be repping 80kg military press above his head, no problem."

"I wouldn't underestimate him," he added. "He doesn't strike me as someone with a big ego.

Moore said Gee is "dangerous but he's obviously been recategorised as a low danger to get to Kirklevington. He's on the right path, aiming for something.

"It's easy to be online shouting the odds but if he was in front of you he would be a force to be reckoned with," he continued. "He was a big Viking stomper who would just wreck you. I would be very, very wary of him. He's been away for a long time."

Following his escape, the Ministry of Justice said: "All prisoners in Category D prisons are robustly risk-assessed and absconds are rare.

"Offenders who break the rules are punished and face extra time behind bars and we are working with the police to recapture this prisoner."

An abscond is when someone escapes from prison without having to encounter any physical security restraint.

Cleveland Police have released CCTV footage of Gee captured the day after he absconded on Monday 27th May and appealed for information about his whereabouts.

The footage shows him walking in the direction of James Cook Train Station from the direction of James Cook University Hospital car park at 11:50am.

Police believe he boarded a train to Middlesbrough.

Gee was wearing a pale blue t-shirt, black Adidas tracksuit bottoms with white stripes down both legs and a beige hat, police said.

Police said he was also carrying a white JD bag, likely to have contained a black hoodie he may have been wearing in earlier sightings.

Gee was wearing a blue hooded raincoat when he boarded the train to Middlesbrough, authorities said.

He is described as around 6ft tall, large build and bald and is believed to have links to Carlise, St Helens and Merseyside.

Anyone who sees him is asked to call Cleveland Police on 101, quoting reference number 098852. Alternatively, you can call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.
