The best friend of missing teen Jay Slater has released a new image of them together before his disappearance on the holiday island of Tenerife.

Lucy Law is the close friend of Jay Slater who spoke to him shortly before he went missing in Tenerife and told her he was tired, thirsty and his phone was about to cut out from quickly diminishing battery power.

She has now posted an image with a crying face and blue heart emoji following his disappearance nearly three weeks ago. The 19-year-old vanished shortly after 8am on June 17.

Lucy, who was the last known person to speak to Jay, uploaded the image on Instagram. She hasn't commented publicly about the missing case in more than two weeks.

Jay Slater, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, journeyed to the Canary Island for a music festival with pal Lucy and another companion.

But worry set in after the 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer decided to stay with some people he had met during the holiday following a night out.

Lucy, speaking to Manchester Evening News, described their flat as being "in the middle of nowhere," adding that Jay would "not have realised" the distance from their original accommodation.

On the morning of June 17, Jay rang Lucy to inform her that he was attempting to walk back after failing to catch a bus.

Jay mentioned his phone battery was dwindling at one percent, he needed a drink of water and "didn't know where he was".

His phone then died and his last known location appeared to be within the Rural de Teno Park - or the National Park of Teno - a hotspot for hiking enthusiasts.

Meanwhile police in Tenerife and the UK have been urged to probe claims missing teen Jay Slater was involved in a £12,000 Rolex theft.

New details have now emerged, with former detective Mark Williams-Thomas - who is unofficially looking into the disappearance of the 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer - revealing that he’d admitted the theft of the watch to his friends.

But The Sun has reported that UK police aren’t investigating it and Tenerife cops are declining to discuss it. The paper says it has also been given the name of a British gangster who has mutual friends with Jay involved in the watch trade on the holiday island.

A source told the publication: “The Spanish police have failed to pick up all the threads and it’s time British detectives stepped in.

“Jay might have gone missing on Tenerife but many of the people he crossed paths with are British.”
