Boris Johnson has told the Tories how to win the next election. (Image: Getty)
Boris Johnson has broken his silence after last night’s Tory election drubbing, publishing a new 10-point plan to rebuild the Tory Party and make the next election competitive.
Reacting to the Tories’ near-wipeout, Mr Johnson says “our worst fears have been realised”, and described the Labour landslide as an “atomic bomb that has been detonated over the British landscape”.

He blasted his party for allowing Keir Starmer to lead Labour to one of their biggest victories ever, and described last night as a “miserable watch”, which the media is now treating as the “political equivalent of the asteroid that landed in the Yucatan Peninsula and killed off the dinosaurs”.
Crucially, however, he says there is hope for the Conservatives despite the terrible night, as the remaining 121 MPs fulfil the vital function of “holding this Starmergeddon majority to account”.
However, Mr Johnson noted that the Labour landslide “is not all it seems”.

READ MORE: The Tories may loathe it, but they must learn from Keir Starmer in order to win
Mr Johnson says Labour's majority is 'built on sand'. (Image: Getty)
The former Tory leader warns that the party got fewer votes than Jeremy Corbyn did in 2017 and 2019, winning one of the lowest shares of the vote in modern times.
At 34 percent, it’s almost 10 points lower than the Tories’ winning margin five years ago. Meanwhile, Sir Keir’s majority itself was nearly halved in Holborn and St Pancras.
He rouses the Tory Party back to life, promising that they can “of course” come back from this defeat, and describes Labour’s huge majority as “built on sand”.
“It is a mile wide and an inch deep; and if the experience of the past five years proves anything, it is that the electorate can flip over a seemingly impregnable position, as a child demolishes a fortress of Lego.”
In a warning to the next Conservative Party leader, set to be decided in an imminent election contest, that they must not reach for the level of absorbing Reform UK into their folds, but instead “occupy the space ourselves”.
“My humble suggestion to the 121 is that they need to rebuild that giant coalition of 2019, get back to some of the big themes that proved so successful that we won seats across the country.”
In a 10-point list, Mr Johnson outlines several policy areas that the Conservatives must focus on if they are to re-win power in 2029.

He also added that Tory MPs must stop jettisoning leaders just because they’re behind in the polls.
He warned: “Don’t be too hasty to get rid of successful election-winning leaders”.
“As I never tire of telling people, some polls put us only two or three points behind, in the days before I was forced to resign in what was really a media-driven hoo-ha.”
