Clark Dearson, 11, said: "A lot of kids feel like the solutions being taught in schools seem a lot smaller than the size of the problems. And this causes despair."
At an awards dinner for theWorld Biogas Summit in Birmingham's NEC, the pupil of Saint Pierre School in Leighon-Sea, Essex, added: "Anaerobic digestion and biogas turning food waste into heat and power is really cool. Let's make the recycling economy part of the national curriculum."
He told 500 delegates including from PepsiCo, Shell and the UN: "It's not what people fear that motivates them - it's the things that they love. Fun makes a following - not fear." Founded by late MP Sir David Amess, the Children's Parliament is supported by content platform Wakelet, Microsoft 365 and the Daily Express.
