KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14: The Kuwait International Airport passenger terminal project (T2), along with its three beams, will need 20 megawatts of electricity to operate; say sources from the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy. Sources explained that 15 percent of the quantity mentioned above of electricity will be supplied through the available renewable energy in the project; since it is one of the new projects upon which the Energy Code has been applied like the other buildings of government agencies and ministries. Sources affirmed that the ministry is ready to supply the project with the required quantity of electrical energy once it is fully operational. Sources said it is one of the major development projects that will contribute to the modernization of the air transport sector and will increase the capacity of airports in the country.

Sources added the ministry is willing to fully cooperate with the Ministry of Public Works, which is implementing the project for the benefit of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), in order to complete all the necessary electricity and water facilities. Sources emphasized that using renewable energy in a project of this size is a step towards using renewable energy in government buildings; considering the huge savings from the power consumption of buildings, as well as protecting the environment and reducing the carbon used in producing electrical energy from traditional sources
