Elizaveta Gyrdymova — better known as Russian pop sensation Monetochka — remembers a different Russia.

       Growing up in the 2000s, she recalls her hometown of Yekaterinburg in the Ural Mountains as a free-spirited, democratic city where politics were discussed openly in classrooms and people took local elections seriously because they were actually competitive.
