SINGAPORE – A 37-year-old Singaporean man who went on the run after he was charged in 2014 with drug consumption and trafficking, was nabbed in Malaysia on Oct 1 before being deported to Singapore.

He was arrested by Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers on Oct 20, the same day he was deported.

The man is linked to several cases of drug trafficking and other drug-related offences committed over a 10-year period between 2014 and 2024.

The man was first arrested and charged on April 3, 2014, with three counts of drug trafficking and one count of drug consumption, and was released on bail later that day, said CNB in a statement on Oct 21.

On June 12, 2017, the man – who is also linked to cases involving voluntarily causing grievous hurt and cheating by impersonation – did not attend court, and an arrest warrant was issued against him.

On Oct 1, the man was arrested in Malaysia by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department of the Royal Malaysian Police before his deportation.

He has since been taken to court to face the original 2014 drug charges, and is being further investigated by the CNB for other cases of drug trafficking.
