       Nigel Farage insisted he is not threatened by the final two contestants in the Tory leadership race.

       Right-wing candidates Kemi Badenoch and Robert Jenrick made it through to the vote of Conservative members after centrist James Cleverly was knocked out in today's shock ballot.

       Asked if he was worried, the Reform UK leader told GB News: "Worried about people that lie at elections then do the opposite? I don't think so."

       The Clacton MP branded shadow housing secretary Ms Badenoch as "one of the most inconsistent politicians in Westminster".

       Meanwhile, he accused ex-immigration minister Mr Jenrick, who has emerged as a standard bearer of the Tory right, of copying him.

       The arch-Brexiteer said: "When I look at the two that are left I'm pretty confident that if it's Kemi Badenoch she'll fall flat on her face pretty quickly.

       "She's one of the most inconsistent politicians in Westminster, what she says and what she does are two very different things.

       "As for Jenrick, he appears to be a convert to my kind of politics. He now gives speeches walking around the stage but you need the charisma to carry it off.

       "If you want lessons in being Nigel Farage I promise you I don't charge that much money for doing it."

       Mr Farage predicted that if Mr Jenrick won he could be forced out by Tory MPs in just 12 months over his pledge to pull the UK out of the European Convention on Human Rights.

       He said: "If he wins with the membership, which he may well do on this issue of the ECHR, he will find over half his parliamentary party viscerally opposed to it.

       "My guess is that if Jenrick wins he might make a brave stab at it on policy but they'll do for him within a year."

       Mr Farage said he believed vote lending led to Mr Cleverly's departure from the contest.

       He said: "The real reason I think this happened is supporters of Cleverly thinking, well he's going to win anyway who do we want to knock out, do we want to knock out Kemi, do we want to knock out Jenrick, and all being too clever by half."

       Ms Badenoch won 42 votes and Mr Jenrick 41 votes, to Mr Cleverly's 37 votes in the latest ballot, with 120 Tory MPs having taken part.

       The final round of the contest will now see Conservative Party members across the UK vote to select the successor to Rishi Sunak.
