Robert Jenrick and Kemi Badenoch will be encouraged by Prime Minister Keir Starmer's latest polling blow as they battle it out for the Tory leadership.
A new poll has found that 40% of people disapprove of the Budget unveiled by Chancellor Rachel Reeves this week.
The Labour Government has raised overall taxes by ￡40billion, something Ms Reeves said was a "once in a parliament" event.
Many were left furious after National Insurance was hiked for employers and capital gains tax rates were also raised.
In the poll, carried out by BMG Research for the i, 29 percent of respondents said they would vote Conservative while 28 percent said they would vote Labour.

Kemi Badenoch's story
Kemi Badenoch is known for her combative debating and interviewing style with views that place her on the right of the party.
She has served in the Governments led by Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, and Rishi Sunak in roles such as Business Secretary and Women and Equalities Minister.
Ms Badenoch was born in London and raised in Nigeria.
She became the MP for Saffron Walden in 2017.
Before entering politics, she worked in IT and banking.
She has said that the Conservative Party needed to "stop acting like Labour" to win again next time round.

Robert Jenrick's story
Robert Jenrick has emerged as an influential figure on the right of the party having served as immigration minister in Rishi Sunak's government.
He resigned from the role in December 2023, arguing that the Rwanda plan on immigration did not go far enough.
Mr Jenrick has made leaving the European Convention on Human Rights one of the central messages in his campaign.
Prior to his career in politics, Mr Jenrick was a corporate lawyer.
He entered politics in 2014, becoming the MP for Newark.

How the voting system works
Tory members will vote for Robert Jenrick of Kemi Badenoch today.
They have cast their votes via a secure online voting system.
To vote, you must have been an active member for 90 days before the ballot closed.
You must also have been a member when the race commenced.

Badenoch the favourite to win
Kemi Badenoch is the favourite to win today, the BBC's Political Editor Chris Mason has said.
He added, however, that polling Tory members is not easy and the race has previously thrown up shock results.

Who will win the leadership race?
Today we will finally find out who the next Conservative Party leader will be after three months of campaigning.
Six candidates were initially in the running, but MP voting has stripped that down to just two contenders – Robert Jenrick or Kemi Badenoch.
Now, the Conservative Party members will decide who becomes Leader of the Opposition.
