A beautiful little commuter town is one of Britain’s richest and home to 450 millionaires.

London-based global wealth consultancy WealthInsight has revealed the locations of all the most affluent small towns and villages across the UK.

Coming in behind Windsor in top spot, Beaconsfield has the fourth-most wealthiest residents in the UK, with 450 millionaires. Less than 25 miles north west of the centre of London, the South Buckinghamshire town is situated in the Chiltern Hills, just off the M25.

Given its proximity to the capital, Beaconsfield is seen as a commuter town. The train station is served by Chiltern Railways and there are regular 25-minute trains into London.

Property prices in Beaconsfield are high, with the average property price being £1,051,713, according to Rightmove, so it is no wonder the town is filled with the ultra wealthy.

WealthInsight analyst Andrew Amolis explained: “Beaconsfield’s high ranking is unsurprising as it has the highest average house price outside of London (over £597,000 per home). It also has the highest average income per household of £88,000.”

Thanks to its division into an “old town” and a “new town,” the town offers the best of both worlds.

The old town features a Georgian, neo-Georgian and Tudor revival main street with shops and pubs, and a weekly market, in addition to the monthly farmers market.

Meanwhile, the new town consists of well-known high street shops like M&S. It is also home to the Crazy Bear Hotel, one of the oldest documented buildings in the town, originally a 15th-century coaching inn.

Just a short distance away lies The Royal Standard of England, a historic pub reputed to be the oldest in Britain, which has featured in several films and TV shows including The Theory of Everything, Hot Fuzz and Midsomer Murders.

Beaconsfield is also home to Bekonscot Model Village – the world’s oldest and original model village which opened back in 1929.

Those living in the town won’t be wanting for green space, with local nature reserve Holtspur Bank. An area of about 6.47 hectares, it boasts different species of orchids, butterflies, and other plants.

Beaconsfield is in the Chiltern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with sweeping chalk hills, flower-filled woodlands, historic attractions, quaint market towns and tucked-way villages.

Buckinghamshire Council operates a selective secondary education system. Pupils can take the 11+ test at the beginning of year 6, when they are age 10 or 11. Approximately 30% attain a score that makes them eligible to go to grammar schools, as well as to the county's upper schools.
