Emmanuel Macron has revealed a proposal from France and the UK for Russia and Ukraine to suspend the war for a month. On his flight home from London yesterday, the French president said European troops would not be sent to Ukraine at first.

       He's also hinted at plans for other EU countries to increase their defence spending.
