       Be under no illusion, Starmer is unpicking Brexit.

       Having made false promises at the general election, giving the British people false hope that Brexit would be safe under Labour, Express readers, the very heart and soul of the Brexit referendum, will be alarmed by Starmer’s plans to betray Brexit and drag Britain back into the EU through the back door.

       Readers will all remember the side show Starmer, his Foreign Secretary David Lammy and most of the Labour Party led after the 2016 referendum.

       They were at the front of the queue to be the blockers of Brexit, campaigning for a second referendum and failing to accept and trust the wisdom of the British people.

       Now they are in Government, Labour are pursing with ideological gusto their determined plan to reverse our Brexit freedoms.

       Having destroyed the strong Conservative economic inheritance as the fastest growing economy in the G7, Labour are intent upon harming our national interests by chaining our country to the slow growth lane of higher regulation and higher taxes rather than seeking the new found freedoms of Brexit and building upon the 70 international trade deals Conservatives secured when in government.

       In recent weeks Labour has established a dedicated unit in the Cabinet Office to ‘reset’ the relationship with Brussels.

       This ‘surrender squad’ consists of over a hundred civil servants and thousands more paving the way for the EU’s bureaucratic unaccountable tentacles to take control of our laws and institutions and undermine our democracy.

       Starmer’s actions are both undemocratic and unnecessary.

       Four years ago, on Christmas Eve 2020, Boris Johnson secured a comprehensive trade deal with the EU as part of our post-Brexit vision for Britain.

       It was a deal many thought could not be secured which gave our country the free trade deal and trading opportunities on good terms that meant no tariffs or quotas.

       The deal supported and promoted British goods and firms, our exporters and our world-leading financial services sector. Importantly, it was a deal which meant that Britain was no longer controlled by the EU but Labour campaigned against this.

       And outside of the EU, we have achieved so much – from unpicking many rules and regulations imposed on us and holding us back, to delivering the fastest vaccine rollout in the pandemic, and signing new free trade deals with growing economies across the world such as The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership – all things we would never have seen become a reality had Labour had their way.

       At a time when we should, like the United States, be unleashing our sovereign democratic freedoms by ensuring our government is working for you and answerable to the British people, Starmer choose to insult the intelligence of hard-working families and businesses forcing them to bankroll his ideological dream of putting Britain back under EU control.

       And we know all too well, like from their mad surrender of the Chagos Islands, when Labour negotiate, Britain loses.

       So my message to Starmer and his unpatriotic Brexit denying government is clear; betray Brexit and you will betray the British people at your peril.

       For those of us who care about the democratic freedoms of our sovereign nation and the hard won freedoms the British people voted for in 2016, the Conservative Party will always stand up for you and never surrender to the EU.
