US President Donald Trump launched another rant at Ukraine's President Zelensky - and attacked the summit hosted by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the weekend. President Trump said: "America will not put up with it for much longer!"
He moaned about Sunday's peace summit hosted by Sir Keir. In a rant on social media site Truth Social, Mr Trump referred to "Europe" but was clearly referring to the London event led by Sir Keir and attended by European leaders as well as the Prime Minister of Canada.

He said: "Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelenskyy, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the U.S. – Probably not a great statement to have been made in terms of a show of strength against Russia. What are they thinking?"
Mr Trump highlighted comments made by Mr Zelensky who said peace in Ukraine was "very, very far away". The US President said: "This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy, and America will not put up with it for much longer! It is what I was saying, this guy doesn’t want there to be Peace as long as he has America’s backing and, Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelenskyy."

The US President posted his message while Sir Keir was speaking in the House of Commons to tell MPs what had happened at the summit. The Prime Minister repeatedly defended Mr Trump in the face a criticism from MPs, saying that the American leader was "sincere" about peace. He said "President Trump and I want to strengthen the relationship between our countries."
Sir Keir spoke about plans for a "coalition of the willing" of European countries to send troops to Ukraine to deter any future Russian attacks if a peace agreement with Russia can be agreed.

However he also repeated comments he made over the weekend when he said that this would "need" a US military guarantee. Sir Keir said: "We have to avoid the mistakes of the past, which is why a security guarantee is so important, a guarantee that we should lead, but need US backing if it’s to act as a proper guarantee."

The US President's comments come despite the warm weclome he gave to Sir Keir when the UK Prime Minister visited Washington last week and presented an invitation from the King for a second state visit.
Sir Keir has insisted that the UK remains an ally of both the UK and Europe as a whole, and says he "trusts" Mr Trump. He is attempting to convince the US administration and Mr Zelensky to sign a minerals deal, but he has repeatedly said that a military presence in Ukraine will also be needed. Sir Keir hopes that if Europe "steps up" and provides troops on the ground, the US will respond by providing the military "backstop" he is calling for.
