       Reform MP Lee Anderson has issued a brutal response after clashing with left-wing political commentator Nigel Nelson on the migrant crisis. The pair butted heads during a GB News appearance where they strongly disagreed on how to deal with the continuous flow of small boat arrivals.

       Writing on X after the exchange, the Ashfield MP said: “These Lefty Wets." And in a 7-word rebuttal, he added: "They need a lesson in common sense.” Mr Anderson’s comments follow the fiery interaction on Wednesday evening where he stated his constituents are "absolutely fed up”.

       Mr Nelson quickly responded to say Britain would “need the agreement of the French”, However, Mr Anderson stood firm in his position, saying: “No we don’t.”

       The political commentator then raised the hypothetical situation of France adopting the same measures that the Reform MP is proposing of putting migrants on a boat and “dropping them off in Norfolk”.

       Mr Anderson responded with the offer: “Me and you, get on a dinghy, from Dover, let’s go to France and claim asylum…what do you think will happen?”

       Mr Nelson briefly replied to this saying “alright” before moving on to the claim: “It is the right of anybody under international law… to actually claim asylum.”

       However, The Ashfield MP hit back, saying: “Nobody in Ashfield, my constituency, lies awake at night worrying about international law. What they’re worried about is these young men, undocumented young men, coming over the English Channel. They’re absolutely fed up.”

       Mr Nelson interjects to say there are “women and children as well in those boats”, yet the Reform MP insisted “that makes up a small percentage”.

       A shocking 6,000 migrants have arrived in the UK so far in 2025, Home Office figures show. In March alone, 4,586 crossed the channel, marking the highest figure ever recorded in the first six months of a calendar year.

       Border Security Commander Martin Hewitt pledged to halve arrivals which has been branded as "defeatist nonsense" by Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp. Mr Anderson echoed the criticism, saying: "Martin Hewitt is a pathetic excuse for a Border Security Commander. He was hired to do a job but has now pledged to do only half of it."
