Two cops, woman among 7 held for false gang-rape accusation in Lodhran

       BAHAWALPUR: Lodhran city police claimed to have arrested seven persons, including two police officials and a woman, on the charge of attempting to implicate three men in a fabricated gang-rape case allegedly over a land dispute.

       Earlier, the police registered a case against all the suspects, including Sub-Inspector Tahir Nadeem and Constable Arslan, who is DSP’s gunman and a woman, N, under relevant sections of the Anti-Gang Rape Act, 2021, Telegraph Act, PPC and Police Order 2002.

       According to Lodhran police PRO Bahadur Khan, N, a resident of Gulgasht area of Multan, in connivance with SI Tahir and Constable Arsalan, made a call to Lodhran city police, alleging that three men gang-raped her.

       On her call, when a police team reached the spot, the woman and her four accomplices, Kamran, Asif, Aslamand Nasir, could not produce any evidence of the accusation.

       On further investigation, it transpired that N and her four accomplices leveled a false accusation to implicate the three men in a gang-rape case over a land dispute, in connivance with the two police officials.

       Later, the police on the complaint of SHO Muzamil Khan registered a case against the suspects and arrested them.

       ARRESTED: Burewala city police have arrested a man for allegedly torturing his wife and cutting her hair on Monday.

       As per police PRO, the suspect Amjad, during a quarrel with his wife subjected her to torture and cut her hair.

       On the woman’s complaint, the police arrested the suspect and recovered the pair of scissors with which he had cut her hair.

       Meanwhile, Allappa police, Multan, claimed to have arrested one Ahmed for the torture of his mother Sassi Mai.

       FUNDS RELEASED: The Punjab government has reportedly released development funds to the tune of Rs1.2 billion for the province’s over 4,015 union councils(UCs), including Bahawalpur district’s 109 UCs.

       According to local government department sources, out of the total allocation, Bahawalpur’s 109 UCs will get Rs32.7 million, while Bahawalnagar’s 135 UCs and Rahim Yar Khan’s 139 UCs will get Rs40.5m and Rs41.7m, respectively.
