       Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana have finally announced the launch of their new hard-left party, in a move that will send a shiver up the spine of Keir Starmer.

       After a chaotic birth, where Ms Sultana quit Labour to join Mr Corbyn despite no new party yet existing, the left-wing pair have today announced the launch of "Your Party".

       In a statement, Mr Corbyn and Ms Sultana warn Labour: "It's time for a new kind of political party. One that belongs to you."

       They add: "It's time for a new kind of political party. One that is rooted in our communities, trade unions and social movements. One that builds power in all regions and nations. One that belongs to you."

       The pair have already announced an inaugural conference, where members will decide the party's direction, model of leadership and policies.

       Ms Sultana has been forced to clarify that the new party is not called "Your Party", despite the website being branded as such.

       Last week a new poll suggested that Mr Corbyn's new party is already potentially neck-and-neck with Labour.

       Find Out Now asked 650 Britons who they would vote for, including an option for Mr Corbyn’s newly launched party following the defection of Zarah Sultana.

       It found the new Corbyn-Sultana party is already winning about 15% support, the exact same as those saying they would stick with Labour.

       The bombshell poll suggests the new hard-Left breakaway party, also comprising the Islamist Gaza independents elected at the last General Election, could take votes off Labour and hand Nigel Farage the keys to Downing Street. The poll put Reform miles ahead on 34% of the vote, with the Tories trailing in second on 17%.

       The rapid growth in support for Mr Corbyn’s party also appears at the expense of the Liberal Democrats and Greens, who scored 9% and 5% respectively.

       Find Out Now’s poll also pointed to a stark splintering of opinion depending on age, with a whopping third of all 18 to 29-year-olds saying they want to back the new party.

       In a Zoom meeting this week, Ms Sultana said she has an ambition to secure 20 to 25% support for her new party in the polls.

       She proclaimed: "All of us will agree on one thing at least – that the Labour Party is dead and it’s time for a mass movement that will take on the billionaire class and the parties that represent them.”

       Ms Sultana launched a fundraising campaign for her new political party a fortnight ago, as well as a new supporter sign-up page, claiming over 64,000 pledges to take action.

       The launch of the party proved highly chaotic, with Ms Sultana announcing her departure from Labour to Mr Corbyn’s new party, despite Mr Corbyn having not yet launched a new party.

       There was also a reported row about whether Mr Corbyn would accept a co-leadership model, similar to the Green Party, which he rejected.

       Asked if he was concerned about splitting the Left-wing vote and helping Mr Farage, Mr Corbyn hit back: “There’s a lot of independent Left councillors around the country who have already been elected.

       “They’re doing very well and giving people a voice, and I think it’s very important that voice be articulated and that’s what we’re doing.”
