       ISLAMABAD: While accurate determination of electricity demand depends on timely weather forecasting, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has signed an agreement with the Pakistan Meteorological Department to determine the demand of electricity.

       Iesco spokesperson Raja Asim said that timely and accurate determination of electricity demand and then generation of electricity, according to demand, can ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity to the consumers.

       “In this regard Iesco and Pakistan Meteorological Department have signed an agreement,” he said.

       Met Office, power company sign agreement

       Iesco Chief Executive Mohammad Naeem Jan said that under the agreement, the Pakistan Meteorological Department will provide three to six-day weather forecasts in Iesco’s operational areas, which will enable Iesco to provide electricity demand to the relevant entities in a better way, keeping in mind the weather conditions.

       “Especially during extreme weather, the availability of electricity according to demand will control load management and ensure uninterrupted power supply, especially when Iesco is migrating to state-of-the-art advanced metering infrastructure (AMI),” he said.

       Director General of Pakistan Meteorological Department Sahibzad Khan said: “We are happy to partner with Iesco. Our goal is to support national infrastructure by providing accurate meteorological data that directly impacts operational planning and public service delivery, and this collaboration marks a significant step in Iesco’s ongoing modernisation efforts that align with national objectives of energy sector reform and service excellence.

       “By integrating advanced weather forecasting into operational planning, Iesco aims to optimise resource utilisation, minimise outages, and proactively respond to demanding conditions,” he said.

       The event was attended by senior officers of Iesco and the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

       Meanwhile, Iesco is going to hold e-kutchery today (Tuesday). According to a statement, Iesco Chief Executive Mohammad Naeem Jan will conduct Facebook live E-Kutchery from 9am to 11am.

       “Consumers can contact Chief Executive Iesco via Facebook ID CEO-Iesco e-kutchery or call at 051-9253105 according to given scheduled to register and resolve their electricity-related issues. While registering complaints, customers are required to provide their name, bill reference number, and contact number,” it stated.
