A Labour MP is being investigated by Parliament's standards watchdog amid claims she was late to declare a trip to Israel and the Palestinian territories. Cat Eccles, who represents Stourbridge, undertook a trip sponsored by Labour Friends of Israel. It included flights, accommodation and meals, amounting to ￡2,600 in total.
Rules state MPs have to be "open and frank" when "declaring any relevant interest". And they must register interests within 28 days.

But while the trip was listed as happening between May 25-29, it wasn't registered until July 9. A description of the trip includes meetings with diplomats, academics, politicians and activists.
A spokesperson for Ms Eccles said: "Due to an administrative error that has now been rectified, the registration of Cat Eccles's trip to Israel missed the original deadline.
"The registration is available currently for all to see and this was solved internally with the Parliamentary registrar."

They added: "Cat never sought to conceal the fact she had been on this trip, referring to her registered interest openly when speaking in the House of Commons chamber.
"Cat will be working with the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner to assist in all aspects of their investigation whilst it occurs."
The spokesperson said the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards investigates any instance in which there is a suspected potential irregularity and Ms Eccles will comply with whatever outcome is advised by the commissioner following the conclusion of the investigation.
