The potential reunion between Prince Harry and King Charles in September could hit a major snag, according to a royal expert. The Duke of Sussex returns to UK shores for the WellChild Awards next month, but his rare trip home will coincide with the third anniversary of the death of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8, 2022 at the age of 96, and the funeral took place on September 19. The United Kingdom observed a national mourning period of 10 days.

Former BBC royal correspondent, Jennie Bond, thinks it’s possible Charles will be out of the country to mark the tragic date. She told the Mirror: "We have all become quite used to Harry coming and going without seeing his family. His visits are generally extremely brief, and the King is usually up in Scotland for the anniversary of his mother‘s death. So arranging a meeting may not be straightforward."
Prince Harry's new aides and one of King Charles' key staffers met for the first time in July, opening up channels of communication. The meeting was viewed by some insiders as an olive branch that could pave the way for better relations.
Jennie speculated whether Harry would see other members of his wider family while in the UK: "Harry may well see some of his cousins – such as Eugenie or Beatrice – but I don’t think there’s any likelihood of a meeting with William or Catherine. The rift between the brothers remains too deep, and William has far too much going on in his life to worry about the Harry problem."

In a fresh blow for Prince Harry after months of difficulties involving his charity Sentebale, his other passion project has been hit by a big change.
The Duke of Sussex's friend and fellow veteran, JJ Chalmers, has stepped down as a trustee of the Invictus Games, the Daily Mail reports.
John James 'JJ' Chalmers was a Royal Marines reservist, as well as a gold medallist in the games, who memorably competed in Strictly Come Dancing in 2020.
He is understood to have left his position as a trustee after only two years.

King Charles has interrupted his summer break in Scotland to give a top honour to a popular non-working member of the Royal Family.

King Charles and Camilla hold secret event with Royal Family
During the Royal Family's summer break at their Highland home, it has been revealed King Charles and Queen Camilla held a low-key concert at Balmoral Castle. The Court Circular, which records all of the Firm's official activities, shares that Charles and Camilla "held a concert of music that was performed at the 2023 Honours of Scotland Service" on Thursday evening.
The entry adds that Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and the Princess Royal and Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Laurence were also in attendance. However, as of yet, no images have been released by Buckingham Palace of the private occasion. The 2023 Honours of Scotland service took place on 5 July 2023 at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh, as a celebration of the King's Coronation.

Meghan Markle fired a "few digs" at the Royal Family while promoting her new Netflix show, 'With Love, Meghan' a royal expert has claimed. To promote the series, Meghan also appeared on The Circuit with Bloomberg's Emily Chang, where she spoke about the times she has tried to feel authentic.

Liechtenstein's Princess Marie Caroline is set to marry Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer at Vaduz Cathedral on August 30. Meghan Markle's huge U-turn about royal titles after key conversation
Meghan Markle reportedly wanted her two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to keep their official royal titles after she spoke to two members of the Royal Family. Although the Duchess and Prince Harry decided to step back from their senior roles in 2020, the couple made a surprise announcement three years later in order to not deny their children of "their birthright".
Alongside the announcement that Lilibet had been christened in California, Harry and Meghan decided that they wanted their children to adopt royal titles, despite the fact that Meghan and Harry can no longer use HRH titles.
