For decades, Frinton-on-Sea in Essex has been famous for its stubborn resistance to change. The town’s first pub only opened in 2000 after decades of opposition and it gained a fish and chip shop just eight years before that. But councillors fear the “ mystique of Frinton ” is once again under threat, this time from a lone ice-cream seller hoping to ply his wares on the seafront. One councillor warned that the budding trader risked turning Frinton into a “ seaside resort ”....
