A stroke cuts remaining life expectancy by one third, and knocks an average of five and a half years off life, a major study has found. University of Queensland researchers analysed the health records of 300, 000 patients admitted to hospital following a sudden stroke between 2008 and 2017 in Australia and New Zealand.
